Telement is known as the telehealth provider for schools and nonprofits in Florida and beyond. Our work with nonprofits provides a safe and compassionate environment for young people to receive professional help within their trusted community organizations. We are proud to be able to offer this service to nonprofits in Florida with the goal of reducing barriers and increasing access to mental health services, and we are excited to be teaming up with Women’s Resource Center of Florida, Inc.
Introducing: Women’s Resource Center
Beginning as a Junior League service project, The Women’s Resource Center of Florida (WRC) was founded in 1984. This non-profit has a mission to provide services for women, men, and families in crisis. They do so by empowering women and giving them the resources to build better lives for themselves and their families.
WRC provides a variety of services to families in the region including an independence program that offers mentoring, financial literacy and job coaching, emergency utility assistance, housing assistance, and a food pantry. In addition, with the help of Telement, the organization provides tele-mental health counseling to participants and their families.
Telement and Women’s Resource Center: Needed Connection
According to the US Office on Women’s Health (OASH), more than one in five women in the United States experienced a mental health condition in 2020. Many serious mental health conditions, such as depression and bipolar disorder, affect women differently, and sometimes more prevalently, than they do men.
Exacerbating the problem for women are the challenges they face accessing mental health care. A recent study from the Kaiser Family Foundation found that one in four women could not get the care they needed because of work, childcare, and other health care obstacles. These problems compound with other family and/or financial stress, and women go without the important care they need often.
The services Telement provides to WRC are all virtual and we work together to provide necessary treatment to WRC clients at no charge to the client. Teletherapy with Telement fills a unique need in the Florida community, allowing young females and their families to connect with a therapist from anywhere, and on their schedule—making access to care easier to obtain and maintain.
The work WRC is doing in the community is a vital component to getting women the help they need and Telement’s teletherapy services are one important component of the services they offer. By helping remove barriers for women and their children, Telement can help WRC to improve the lives of young women by providing individual therapy and counseling for women and families in crisis.
